FINAL EXAMS ! :D
It's been quite sometime since I have blogged. The time of the semester has began. Final exams! First thing, I am happy as my semesters are moving fast. I will finish my degree course fast, I supposed. But, I am also quite nervous about my finals. I have a feeling that I am not fully prepared. With the tight schedule of work and minimum time to go through my notes and text books. I feel extremely congested. Hahaha! I need some break! Like I honestly do!
So, the reason of my blog today is I would like to share on how I manage my studies and work accordingly. I am not a pro anyway, but just something I do which I believe is working for me. I work in a 9 to 5 working environment. The maximum time I will be in my office will be up to 6pm only. After 6pm, I will be already on my way back. Usually, I will be home before 9pm. Every human needs rest. So, do I. I usually do not pressure myself by doing work continuously. I have my lazy moods too. Right after reaching home, I will just lay on bed, scrolling the social apps on my mobile phone. Sometimes, I take a short power nap. Yes, my naps are all to make me more powerful, lol. Usually a 30-40 minutes nap before showering and having my dinner. I will make sure by 10pm I am all set with a full tummy, fresh mind and body.
I will start my revision about 10pm and it goes on up to 1am or 2am sometimes. I have short breaks in between, maybe 10-15 minutes. I prevent memorizing, I prefer to to understand the notes I am viewing. I will do short notes and I do talk to myself to make the understanding of the chapters easier. I have a very limited time to focus on my education. Therefore, I will study in a shortcut way. At the same time, I make sure I remember all the important facts, points and examples. Due to the limited amount of time I have for my studies, I love keeping my notes simple, short and compact.
Before beginning to revise a particular subject, I will go through the topics in the body of content. I go through the subtopics and list them down accordingly based on the length and also contents of the topic. I will also approximately know the importance of a topic by going through it, so I will start revising from the most important to the least important topics. I highlight the important points and note them down in my note book. Sometimes I watch video lectures. I will take a 15 minutes break every 1 hour to stretch my limbs or power naps at times :P
Every 4 months, I would suffer from this congestion due to my final exams. I will feel exhausted, but I won't be able to sleep at night. Whenever I go to bed early, I will have this guilty feeling of not studying and I will wake up in the middle of the night. I over-think and even have nightmares at times. Life has been congested and tough since I have started my part-time based studies. I salute people who have been studying part time for years. I have just started it like 6 months ago and I feel like dying already. Studying while working requires ton of sacrifices. Sleep and social life are just options if you have free time. I have eye bags and panda eyes almost every day because of this. Only 3-4 hours of sleep a day. But, I believe that this struggle will be worth the hassle.
Sometimes, when I feel like giving up, I think of my mom who has been the bread winner of my family since my dad died many years ago. Being a single mother for 2 daughters is not an easy task and my mom got through it. She made sure me and my sister have it all even it means she has to starve for weeks. I think of my boyfriend who has been my pillar of strength. A person who always motivates me and keeps me going in hard times. He pulled me back when I was almost drowning in the problems life was dragging me. I will do this for my family. If all these sleepless nights will bring the pride and happiness to them, I would definitely do it. Good Luck to me ! And to other friends who are sitting for their exams too.
